Video vs Stenography

Video vs Stenography

We believe that traditional stenography is labor intensive, prone to errors, and very costly. We are not alone in such beliefs as stenography is a dying profession with training schools reporting huge drops in enrollment year after year.

Reading a transcript is like reading a book. The reader must create images in their own mind as to the deponents demeanor, emotions, facial expressions, hand and body movements. Such images are bound to be wrong, further compounding a less than accurate record, and often leading to gross injustice.

In steps new technology with digital video and audio recording that can capture an exact record of the deponents testimony, both verbally and visually. Not only does this video/audio make a superior record, but the record is more compelling when viewed by judges and juries.

Philosophy

Philosophy

depose.me believes that human transcription should ONLY be used for important testimony passages. Using depose.me software tools, it is much quicker to search, review & annotate the testimony in video/audio form.

By offering this technology at low prices, depose.me hopes to allow video/audio records to be used ALL the time. The courts have embraced this at the State and Federal level, by adopting rules that allow the actual video/audio recording the be the OFFICIAL RECORD.

It is a proven fact that depositions taken early in a case often pave the way for a mutually agreeable settlement. Now that this can be done at a fraction of the cost of traditional depositions, there is more incentive to start the process earlier.

Depositions are no longer cost prohibitive when using depose.me technology and can thus be employed more often.

This is clearly a WIN WIN for everyone involved.

Our Software

Our Software

Our custom software interfaces with high definition video cameras that capture minute details of the deponent. Our custom software incorporates “high fidelity” studio quality wireless microphones to obtain the highest quality audio for our software generated speech to text transcripts.

We capture each participant’s microphone independently and record the audio on its own unique audio channel. This allows us to isolate any participant’s speech in cases of simultaneous talking or when there is a dispute as to who actually made a recorded statement.

We also employ sophisticated (steerable) stereo microphones that pickup ambient sounds and any speech in the room including that of the participants.

Finally, we burn a real time DVD that has two audio channels, one that isolates the deponents microphone and one that has a mix of all other microphones.

The above configuration results in triple redundancy and creates the necessary video and audio for our post processing software to go to work and create machine generated transcripts.

At depose.me we take pride in offering inexpensive deposition & rule 2004 examination video recording that is fully compliant with state and federal rules.
